La quinta edizione della prestigiosa gara di fotografia subacquea, ideata da David Pilosof, e che si svolge dal 1° gennaio al 1° novembre 2015.

E’ il 5° anno consecutivo in cui si svolge il World ShootOut Global Underwater Photo Competition, la gara di fotografia subacquea a carattere internazionale ideata e prodotta da David Pilosof.
Fotografo israeliano e instancabile manager, Pilosof è conosciuto in tutto il mondo, sin dagli anni 70, per aver pubblicato “Samantha”, il primo libro di immagini fotografiche di nudo realizzate sottacqua, frutto del lavoro svolto insieme alla modella australiana Samantha Bond, splendidamente ritratta fra i rami di gigantesche gorgonie nei fondali di Eilat, nel Mar Rosso israeliano.
Con l’edizione del 2015 Pilosof, dopo aver festeggiato nel 2014 i dieci anni di vita della sua precedente creazione, l’Eilat Shoot Out – gara in estemporanea che si svolgeva nei fondali della cittadina israeliana in una sfida di 3 giorni e 3 notti fra fotosub di tutto il mondo – rilancia l’idea di una competizione dalle caratteristiche uniche. Le gare di fotografia subacquea create da Pilosof sono rivolte ai fotografi di tutto il mondo, dilettanti e professionisti. La vittoria implica il conseguimento di prestigio e notorietà ma anche di eccezionali premi in denaro, attrezzature fotografiche, viaggi meravigliosi, crociere subacquee, per un valore complessivo, ad oggi corrisposto, di circa 700.000 dollari!
Le centinaia di foto che giungeranno al World ShootOut 2015 saranno selezionate da una giuria internazionale. Le fasi finali di votazione avranno luogo in una cerimonia pubblica che si terrà nel mese di gennaio 2016 in occasione dell’Expo internazionale “Boot Dusseldorf Dive Show 2016”, in Germania. La cerimonia e le votazioni potranno essere seguite in diretta live sul web.
La competizione
Il “World ShootOut 2015 underwater photo competition” consta di due sezioni principali: Il Real-Time ShootOut, che si svolge dall’1 gennaio all’1 novembre 2015 e il Video Clips of the World, la competizione che consente di partecipare inviando videoclip ripresi in qualsiasi località del mondo in qualsiasi momento. L’iscrizione al Video Clips of the World deve essere effettuata entro il giorno 1 novembre 2015.
Nel Real-Time ShootOut i fotografi scelgono liberamente i luoghi dove scattare le immagini, immergendosi nei fondali di qualsiasi risorsa naturale di acqua: mari, oceani, laghi, fiumi, ghiacciai, purchè ciò avvenga fra l’1 gennaio e l’1 novembre 2015, seguendo le indicazioni del regolamento riportate sul sito del concorso. Le immagini possono concorrere nelle sette categorie del Real-Time ShootOut e aspirare alla conquista dei fantastici premi in palio, fra cui una meravigliosa vacanza subacquea per 2 persone del valore di 25.000 $, in uno splendido Resort della Papua New Guinea e una meravigliosa crociera tra i fondali della inimitabile Papua (volo aereo compreso)!
Questa sezione comprende la categoria Underwater Photography Global Championship dedicata a team composti da fotografi della stessa nazionalità. I fotosub devono creare, una squadra composta da tre concorrenti e presentare un portfolio di 6 immagini (2 immagini per ciascuno). Al team vincente spetterà un premio di ben 9,000 $ offerti dagli sponsor ed elargiti attraverso assegni e attrezzature fotografiche!
Le altre categorie previste dal Real-Time ShootOut sono:
Dive Destination – Best 5 Images (portfolio): prevede la presentazione di una serie di 5 immagini che rappresentino la località dove ci si è immersi e siano in grado di rappresentare in modo accattivante la diversità dell’ambiente marino, le particolarità dei soggetti ripresi, immagini che esaltino la creatività e le capacità nell’utilizzo delle tecniche fotografiche;
Grandangolo: prevede un’immagine singola, scattata con obiettivo grandangolare;
Macro & Super-Macro: prevede anch’essa un’immagine singola ma scattata con lente macro/super macro;
Squali: prevede la presentazione di un set di 3 immagini sul tema, sia immagini singole che connesse, che realizzino, comunque, un suggestivo portfolio;
Best Wrecks – Black & White: presentazione di un’ immagine singola in bianco e nero rappresentante un relitto subacqueo di qualsiasi tipo, che “racconti” la visione e la percezione del fotografo, del relitto, in quello specifico contesto ambientale;
Amateurs: è la categoria creata appositamente per i dilettanti ed i detentori di fotocamere compatte digitali.
Infine la Fish & Fashion Category che è quella prediletta da Pilosof, per il quale rappresenta la grande opportunità per i fotosub, di mettere in gioco creatività, senso estetico, originalità.
Cinque immagini che rappresentino l’armoniosa collocazione del corpo umano nel contesto “acquatico” e la relativa combinazione con la moda, la natura, l’ ambiente, così come ci ha raccontato lo stesso David in un’intervista: “…the Under Water Fashion category is on and I think this could be a big challenge for the Italian photographers who are coming from a great Italian industry. I can say it’s my favorite category, this is an opportunity for the photographers to establish an image of fashion with the special background UW that you can get on land and on the study. I hope this category will become the most prestige’s in the future”.

From January 1ST to 1 November 2015 THE FIFTH EDITION OF THE WORLD SHOOTOUT COMPETITION
This is the 5th year in a row that is held the World ShootOut Global Underwater Photo Competition, the race of underwater photography with an international character created and produced by David Pilosof.
Israeli photographer and tireless manager, Pilosof is known throughout the world, since 70 years for publishing “Samantha”, the first book of photographs of nude made underwater, the work done together with the Australian model Samantha Bond, beautifully portrayed among the branches of giant sea fans in the depths of Eilat, Israel’s Red Sea.
With the edition of 2015 Pilosof, after celebrating in 2014 the 10-year life of his previous creation, the Eilat Shoot Out – in extemporaneous race that took place in the depths of the Israeli town in a challenge of three days and three nights between fotosub worldwide – raises the idea of a competition with unique characteristics. The competitions of underwater photography created by Pilosof are addressed to photographers around the world, amateurs and professionals, and the victory is always characterized from the award of prestige and notoriety and also exceptional prizes consisting of money, photographic equipment, wonderful trips, diving cruises, for a total paid approximately $ 700,000!
The hundreds of photos that will come to the producers of the World ShootOut 2015 will be selected by an international jury and the final rounds of voting will take place publicly in a special ceremony to be held in the month of January 2016 at the Expo Boot Dusseldorf International Dive Show 2016, in Germany. The ceremony and the voting will be followed live on the web.
The competition
The World ShootOut 2015 underwater photo competition consists of two main sections:
The Real-Time ShootOut, which takes place from January 1 to November 1, 2015 and Video Clips of the World, the competition that allows you to participate by sending in video clips taken any location in the world, at any time. Registration for the Video Clips of the World must be made before the November 1, 2015.
In Real-Time ShootOut photographers freely choose places to shoot pictures, diving himself in the depths of any natural resource of water: seas, oceans, lakes, rivers, glaciers (follow the directions and rules given on the website of the competition). Images can compete in the seven categories of Real-Time ShootOut and aspire to the conquest of the fantastic prizes, including a dreamy dive vacation for 2 people worth $25,000 in Papua New Guinea, including 7 nights at the Walindi Plantation Resort, 7 nights at Lissenung Island Resort, 10 nights on board MV FeBrina + round trip air tickets from Europe to Papua New Guinea (via Singapore).
This section includes the category Global Underwater Photography Championship dedicated to teams of 3 photographers of the same nationality compound by a team of three competitors that present a portfolio of six images (2 images for each of them). It will be up to the team winning a prize of $ 9,000- $3,000 sponsor by PADI + $ 6,000 worth of Seacam products!
The other categories of the Real-Time ShootOut are:
Dive Destination – Best 5 Images (portfolio): a series of five images that represent the location where you dived and are able to be so captivating diversity of the marine environment, the particularities of subjects taken, submit images that enhance the creativity and skills in the use of photographic techniques from the photographer;
Wide Angle: a single image, taken with wide wideangle lens;
Macro & Super-Macro: a single image taken with macro lens / super macrolens;
Sharks: in this category must be presented a set of three images on the theme, both single and connected to each other, that realize, however, an impressive portfolio;
Best Wrecks – Black & White: in this category must be submitted a single image in black and white representing a wreck diver of any kind, that “stories” of the perception that the photographer has placed the subject in the environment;
Amateurs: created specifically for the amateurs and the holders of compact digital cameras.
Finally, the Fish & Fashion Category. It’s the category preferred by Pilosof, where he sees a great opportunity for underwater photography to bring into play creativity, aesthetics, and originality.
